The University of Connecticut School of Nursing is seeking applications to fill a full-time, 11-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor or Assistant/Associate/Full Clinical non-tenure track Professor position. This position is a joint appointment with Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

We are pleased to continue these investments by inviting applications for a faculty position in the School of Nursing.

Under the direction of the Dean of School of Nursing and the VP Nursing at Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC), the faculty member will be responsible to: 1) teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses, relevant to children and/or the faculty member's research interest and expertise; 2) Participate within the Nursing Research Team to continue to develop and implement evidence based practices and research consistent with the institution's work related to Magnet Recognition; 3) seek competitive national research funding that further supports the nursing and interdisciplinary scientific efforts at both the UConn School of Nursing and CCMC; and 4) may act as a major advisor to Ph.D. students and post-doctoral fellows.

The successful candidate will share a deep commitment to effective instruction and will also be expected to assist the University in its efforts to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups, to demonstrate through teaching, research/scholarship, and/or public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience, to integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools, and to provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests. Applicants at higher ranks should possess an excellent record or research, teaching performance, and involvement in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral education, commensurate with the rank they are seeking.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctorate (PhD or DNP) in Nursing or related field by the date of hire (equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable);
  • Research oriented doctoral degree, e.g., Ph.D. in nursing or related discipline;
  • Master's degree in pediatric nursing or related area;
  • Evidence of research experience and major funding as a principal investigator in an area related to children and/or adolescents;
  • Previous teaching experience in an institution of higher education;
  • Current Connecticut state license as RN (valid as of the date of hire);
  • Three years of practice experience in a relevant clinical area;
  • Completion of required health indicators (MMR titers, TB status, Hepatitis B, and others as required by clinical agencies) and CPR certification at the time of employment;
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal relationship strategies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Record of scholarly productivity;
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience; expertise in pediatric nursing and research involving adolescents and children.

Additional Preferred Qualifications for Assistant or Associate Professor (Tenure-Track)
  • Completion of a post-doctoral fellowship (Assistant Professor).
  • Demonstrated potential in establishing a successful program of research (Assistant Professor).
  • Evidence of prior grant funding (Assistant Professor).

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 11-month, tenure-track or non-tenure clinical track faculty appointment initially subject to annual reappointment reviews. Appointment type, rank and compensation package will be commensurate with background, qualifications and experience. Incumbent may be required to work at the University of Connecticut's main campus located in Storrs, and/or the campuses at Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, Waterbury, and West Hartford as well as the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.
