Neuromotor Research Clinic Therapist

Position Summary:
The Neuromotor Research Clinic of the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute is looking for a Research Associate to participate in clinical and research efforts to advance effective and innovative treatment strategies with children and young adults with neuromotor disabilities. The Research Associate will serve as part of a clinic and research team in the implementation of various intensive therapeutic protocols including but not limited to: the ACQUIRE protocol, PCIMT , and Modified PCIMT . The person's primary responsibilities will be to implement intensive treatment (therapy) protocols undergoing research investigation. The incumbent will manipulate and analyze data; evaluate the completeness and quality of collected data; interpret results and develop robust conclusions; write research reports, and present research findings. The successful candidate will display the ability to work independently with patients, to identify goals, as well as develop and then implement treatment plans while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Opportunities to be a part of presentations at National Conferences, participate in the training of other professionals, journal publications, and research development will be provided.

Required Qualifications:
-Masters or above in Occupational or Physical Therapy from an accredited occupational or physical therapy program.
-Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensed to practice as an Occupational or Physical Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
-Evidence of ability to perform duties with a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, flexibility, discretion, judgment, diplomacy, and tact with a strong service oriented attitude.
-Strong problem solving skills.
-Excellent writing skills.
-Field data collection experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills are preferred.
-Demonstrate clinical competency with pediatric population.
-Experience in research and data collection.
