4-H Health Rocks! Program Coordinator

Position Summary:
The 4-H Health Rocks! Program Coordinator will assist the Richmond Metropolitan Area 4-H Agents in coordinating the Health Rocks! program, oversee the evaluation process statewide, market the program and establish partnerships with other S360 organizations, assist with budget management, and organize, implement and evaluate the weeklong Healthy Living Institute. This position will be housed in Chesterfield and immediately supervised by the Chesterfield 4-H Agent.
Specific responsibilities include:
Program Delivery - Manage the delivery of a minimum of 10 hours of Health Rocks! programming in the Richmond Metropolitan area engaging at least 2,200 youth between the ages of 8 and 14 and utilizing teen and adult volunteers. Youth reach of 2,200 must be achieved by August 15, 2019. It is expected that 50% of hours worked per week should be providing direct Health Rocks! educational programming to youth. A program output form will need to be completed and submitted to their supervisor at the conclusion of each program. Quarterly expectation of youth reach will established between the coordinator and supervisor.
Program Development - Recruit, train, and evaluate volunteers to deliver experientially-based personal development and healthy living programming during the 2019 Healthy Living Institute; coordinate logistics with community partners; and implement the event.
Program Evaluation - Collect evaluations; report program data; communicate results and findings through avenues such as press releases, personal stories, social media, impact reports, etc.
Mission:
To engage youth and families through access and opportunities to achieve optimal physical, social, and emotional well-being, defined as "the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy". This includes avoiding risky behavior, forming and maintaining satisfying relationships, and being able to handle normal levels of stress, relationships.
By utilizing research-based information and practices, the mission helps create supportive communities that provide access and opportunities through the acquisition of knowledge, skills, positive attitude, development of positive relationships, and engagement in behaviors that enable them to thrive.
Health Rocks! is curricula for a healthy living program targeted at young people ages 8 to 14.
The program aims to:
• Reduce youth smoking and tobacco use.
• Help youth build life skills that lead to healthy lifestyle choices with special emphasis on youth smoking and tobacco use prevention.
• Help youth understand influences and health consequences of tobacco, drug, and alcohol use to make healthy choices.
• Engage youth and adults in partnership to develop and implement community strategies that promote healthy lifestyle choices.
• Build positive, enduring relationships with youth involved as full partners through widely varying "communities of interest" to address youth risk behaviors.
Health Rocks! also provides health information regarding norms and consequences of youth tobacco, alcohol, and drug usage. The curriculum is designed for teen/adult facilitation, with teaching tips and key health messages embedded in the hand-on activities.
Hours worked may vary and may include night and weekend work.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma. Experience working with youth development programs.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience. Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors Degree.
