Communications Editor III-Ctrl

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Creative Services in the Office of Communications and Marketing, this position serves as the primary writer and editor for publications - both digital and print - promoting the university as a whole. Materials produced will reflect an Auburn University on the move with a drive to inspire, innovate, and transform in our community, the state of Alabama, and throughout the nation and world. Responsibilities include: writing and editing compelling and persuasive copy for print and digital advertising; working with Admissions and other communications professionals to develop copy for student recruiting materials; writing copy for materials requested by colleges, schools, and other campus units.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in advertising, marketing, public relations, or related field; four (4) years of experience in writing and editing
communications/ publications and/or in journalism copyright; demonstrated ability with both oral and written communications skills. Must be able to create and disseminate information that resonates with a variety of audiences. Employer will consider advanced degree's in lieu of experience.

Candidate should submit a minimum of three creative writing samples (example: ad, brochure, advertorial, etc.).

Desired Qualifications
Experience in writing targeted, persuasive marketing and communications materials for a variety of audiences; experience with advertising and marketing copy for brochures, print, and digital ads, advertorials, and other material; demonstrated ability to develop creative concepts and appropriate voice for communications targeted to various audiences ranging from prospective students to legislators, researchers, and the business community; superior copy editing skills, including a demonstrated knowledge of both Chicago and AP styles; experience in handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment; and experience in collaborating with other members of a team as well as working independently on projects with minimal supervision.
