Position Summary:
The Virginia Tech Honors College (http://www.honorscollege.vt.edu) is developing signature programs as part of its expanded mission to foster extraordinary educational experiences. As part of these initiatives, the Honors College seeks a versatile instructor with a background in technology, creativity, and innovation to contribute to its instructional programs. Applicants should possess a terminal degree in their respective fields (or expect that degree by 15 August 2019). Review of applicants will begin on 22 October 2018 and continue until the position is filled.
This is a Collegiate Faculty position (non-tenure, renewable) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Collegiate Faculty mentor highly motivated Honors students, teach Honors courses, support undergraduate research efforts, and contribute to the overall development of Honors College signature programs. Collegiate Faculty are expected to participate in college- and university-level service, committee work, and other duties as assigned, and to pursue a program of personal research, including research into aspects of teaching and learning. Honors Collegiate Faculty are encouraged to establish affiliate status with a department in one of the university's disciplinary colleges or in one of the university's research institutes.

Required Qualifications:
• A terminal degree in Engineering, Science and Technology, Design, or related field
• A demonstrated thorough theoretical and conceptual knowledge in a discipline related to technology, creativity, and innovation
• A strong record of instruction and the proven ability to work collaboratively
• A strong record of scholarly accomplishments
• Experience with or demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary research and instruction and a willingness to cross disciplinary boundaries to address complex societal challenges
• Demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate students in developing interdisciplinary capacities

Preferred Qualifications:
• Expertise in student-centered pedagogies and/or assessment
• A desire to advise and teach a highly motivated student body drawn from a broad spectrum of disciplines
• Experience working with professional or industry partners, including non-profit and extension services
• An interest in professional ethics and social responsibility
• Experience working with a dynamic, diverse, and highly motivated undergraduate student body drawn from a broad spectrum of disciplines
• A commitment to diversity in the university community
• Proven ability to teach undergraduate courses in both thematic and methods topics beyond graduate school teaching appointments
• Experience working with underrepresented students
