Job Purpose
Responsible for providing administrative support for the Water Center for the management, utilization and protection of water resources. Serve as the Center's liaison with faculty, students and staff, as well as commercial customers for the laboratory. Assist with the proposal process and grant management, maintain Center and externally funded research project records, and assist the Center laboratory with purchasing and report distribution.

Essential Functions
Provide general administrative support, including composing correspondence, scheduling meetings, coordinating events, and maintaining records and files. Maintain Center's motor pool vehicles, to include scheduling, maintenance and invoicing. Order supplies, parts, and equipment for the Center laboratory and administration, as well as for grants, as needed. Process supply orders and route to appropriate faculty as needed. Prepare and process paperwork for Center faculty, staff, and student travel, as well as grant travel. Reconcile and maintain backup records for all Center issued procurement cards. Maintain master database of all Center laboratory and interdepartmental transfer invoices, as well as sending customized water sample reports and invoices to customers. Assist in grant proposal paperwork preparation and collecting data for grant proposals and budgets. Assist with grant budget management, as needed. Perform other administrative duties in support of assigned functions within the Center including special projects, analysis and other specialized functions, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of related experience. Ability to interpret and apply University and State of Tennessee policies, procedures and budget/accounting processes. Ability to multi-task effectively in a varied, high-volume environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with staff at various levels to identify and resolve issues. Ability to respond quickly and constructively to changes or unexpected shifts in priorities. Ability to manage workload and meet challenging deadlines. Proficiency in office productivity software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word).

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a business related discipline such as accounting, finance, or business administration. Experience with Banner.

Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience; Clerical and Support Skill Level 5. This is a full-time grant funded position; its continuation is contingent upon future funding.
