Environmental Health & Safety Trainer

Position Summary:
The Environmental Health & Safety Trainer will be responsible for communication, adult learning, and crafting effective tools and methods to teach safety skills and impart knowledge to students, faculty and staff. The incumbent will identify, develop and deliver instructional strategies using traditional media as well as video, multimedia and web technologies. The successful candidate will have the ability to understand learning objectives and formulate communications that convey knowledge and skills to our audience, who vary greatly in age, experience and learning styles. Primary focus will be instructional design and performing outreach to, and providing training support for, undergraduate and graduate students.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Education, Instructional Design, or related field.
- Broad general knowledge of OSHA health and safety standards.
- Previous experience in instructional design, eLearning course design and development, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong related training and technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be able to obtain certification as an Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional within 3 years
- Experience working in a university or similar setting
- M.S. in Occupational Health and Safety, Education, Instructional Design or a related field or training and experience comparable to an advanced degree
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA standards and their application.
