Position Summary:
Virginia Tech Engineering is seeking an energetic and curious Advancement Associate to support the team responsible for philanthropic gifts to the College. The university is embarking on its next phase of strategic growth across Blacksburg, Roanoke, Northern Virginia and other locations. This position will be critical in supporting the team and helping achieve the ambitious goals of the College.
An Advancement Associate for Engineering assists major gift officers in all aspects of fundraising initiatives such as strategic planning, project management, data organization and reporting. This position must exercise discretion with confidential issues, yet be able to communicate initiatives as they pertain to advancement activities, with a variety of important constituents working with multiple officers. The position will offer a fast-paced environment with new and challenging opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
- Experience providing administrative support in an academic or professional office environment.
- Strong computer skills with working knowledge of a variety of software such as word processing, spreadsheets and scheduling software.
- Excellent communication, organization and customer service skills and a definitive willingness to help manage donors and the systemic stewardship programs of the advancement team.
- Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines; work independently and as a member of a team; handle confidential material; and have a positive demeanor and use good problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialized knowledge of fundraising, prospect management, and alumni relations.
- Experience utilizing university financial systems, such as Banner finance.
- Experience with travel arrangements and reimbursement.
- Experience with event planning/coordination.
