Psychologist


Brief Summary:

Marist College Office of Counseling Services seeks an experienced psychologist to join a flourishing, collaborative multidisciplinary staff providing culturally- and trauma-informed services to undergraduate and graduate students. Services include individual and group counseling, walk-in and on-call emergency assessments, crisis intervention, consultation and psycho-educational programming/outreach. This a nine month, full-time position during the academic year, starting this fall.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally appropriate intake evaluations, individual and group counseling.
  • Provide daytime triage coverage for walk-in students in acute crisis; coordinate intervention including arranging for psychiatric evaluation at hospital ER; consult with involved professionals, college staff and families as indicated.
  • Participate in after-hours and weekend emergency on-call rotation to assess risk and coordinate crisis intervention response in consultation with the Director.
  • Provide consultations to faculty, staff, students, families and administration on student behavioral and mental health concerns through phone and in-person contacts and participation in campus-wide committees.
  • Develop and facilitate psychoeducational programs/ outreach for diverse student groups, especially marginalized students, to promote campus-wide health, wellness, inclusion and equity. Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, administration and community providers on programs/outreach.
  • Supervise graduate intern's provision of individual and group counseling
  • Maintain current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, ethical and professional guidelines and Counseling Services policies.


Qualifications:

Applicants must have a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program and internship; be licensed or license-eligible in New York (within one year of assuming position); a minimum of three years demonstrated experience in individual and group counseling as well as with college age and graduate students; excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.

Special consideration will be given to applicants with strong generalist skills as well as expertise in one or more of the following areas: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Dialectical Behavior Therapy; demonstrated commitment and experience working with diverse and underrepresented populations to engage them in use of counseling service; grief/trauma.
