HR Information Systems / Payroll Project Manager

Job Description:

The HRIS/Payroll Project Manager is responsible for providing support and maintaining all Human Resources Information Systems. This position reports directly to the Director of Payroll and provides oversight for the payroll function in the absence of the Director. Some of the key responsibilities of the position include: developing and implementing technology related projects within the HR and Payroll function; maintaining the HR web site and providing solutions and services to improve the efficiency of business processes, effectiveness of HR services and programs to customers throughout the institution; providing technical support to Payroll Operations; and ensuring proper processing of Payroll, including transmission of direct deposit and tax report preparation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare HR and Senior Management reports using BRIO or MS Access data reporting tools, including all monthly and quarterly HR internal and external reports.
  • Prepare tax and other mandated reports to external clients.
  • Prepare and transmit Payroll deduction reports.
  • Maintain HRIS database and troubleshoot discrepancies, audit data and ensure data integrity standards. Work closely with information Technology staff to address issues related to HRIS.
  • Develop Payroll auditing tools to ensure compliance and monitor activity.
  • Responsible for reconciliation of Payroll activity and posting to general ledger.
  • Establish relationships with software vendors to ensure software upgrades are installed properly. Keep up to date with technology trends and changes.
  • Maintain and update HR website content and links. Ensure website is meeting needs of customers and contains accurate and updated information.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree required, plus 3-5 years experience.
  • Proficiency with various computer applications. Including Microsoft Office, SQL programming, BRIO or Access.
  • Experience with HR information systems preferably Ellucian Banner Higher Education system or other Oracle based system.
  • Prior experience with implementing projects to maximize use of technology within HR and Payroll operations.
  • Prior experience with testing and installing software and hardware.
  • Project management and implementation skills, including ability to document, deliver presentations, and project proposals.
  • Knowledge of Payroll operations and tax compliance.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently.
  • Creative problem solver.
