Tenure-track Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics

Elmhurst College invites applicants with a background in statistics or applied mathematics or a closely related field for a tenure-track assistant professor position in our Department of Mathematics. Anticipated duties will include assisting the department to develop a major in statistics. Main teaching responsibilities will include the teaching of upper level statistics courses, the calculus sequence, and upper division mathematics courses as well as the typical service courses in mathematics. The teaching load is six courses per year. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program. Candidates should have a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.

Essential Functions
Anticipated duties will include assisting the department to develop a major in statistics. Main teaching responsibilities will include the teaching of upper level statistics courses, the calculus sequence, and upper division mathematics courses as well as the typical service courses in mathematics. The teaching load is six courses per year.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
. An appreciable level of experience with statistics is necessary.
. Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential is essential.
. A PhD in any one of the indicated fields is required by September 1, 2019.

Preferred Qualifications
Scholarly interest in statistics is a plus.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
