Simmons University is looking for an Assistant Director of Advancement Services to join the Office of Advancement. Reporting to the Director of Advancement Services, the Assistant Director will be responsible for managing and ensuring the integrity of the gift process. From the reconciliation of gifts, to gift and donor reporting and database maintenance, the Assistant Director will play a critical role in ensuring the information and systems accuracy for the Advancement department and the University. The Assistant Director will manage one direct report.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to our fundraising work with an ability to connect that work to the University's vision and mission by actively attending and participating in divisional and cross-University meetings and staying abreast of University activities and strategic plans.

Responsibilities

Gift Process Management:
  • Run, reconcile and deliver accurate gift and financial performance reports, constituent and affinity giving reports;
  • Provide careful review and reconciliation among the various gift and financial reports to identify and acknowledge variances, and to ensure the accuracy of data prior to delivery;
  • Execute the monthly adjustments posting and auditing reports for gifts and confirm all discrepancies have been accounted for and updated in the system;
  • Prepare and deliver accurate and timely pledge and matching gift reminder letters, as well as calendar and fiscal year-end giving statements, including board member giving reports, ad-hoc constituent giving reports, etc.

Analysis and Reporting:
  • Run, reconcile and deliver accurate gift and financial reports to meet internal and external requests, including but not limited to annual reporting to CASE;
  • Serve as the data and reporting analyst for the department, supporting both the Information Services and Reporting Services teams;
  • Assess and provide appropriate and audited data on overall findings and performance assessments of engagement and fundraising activities;
  • Create and deliver accurate lists and analytical reports within the department's fulfillment guidelines; including benchmarking reports for the University's internal areas and/or external surveys;
  • Assist in constructing, auditing, and delivering reports on the fundraising and engagement performance of the Advancement office using Crystal Reports, MS Excel, Access, or other report development tools;

Application Support and Training:
  • Provide ongoing application support and deliver trainings to users of Advancement systems;
  • Facilitate and manage the delivery of content for the department's intranet site, the University's main website and other content management systems related to alumnae/i and donor demographics, giving and fundraising performance, lists and reports fulfillment as needed;
  • Create and maintain training materials for end-users related to system use and information sharing;
  • Perform database updates;
  • Perform other responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors' degree plus a minimum of two years of professional experience;
  • Prior experience in a higher education environment, Advancement office or Development services preferred;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, written and verbal;
  • Prior experience running financial reports, analyzing data and auditing data for accuracy required
