Position Summary:
Enterprise Systems (ES) is a unit within the Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech. Enterprise Systems supports the mission of the university by developing, coordinating, and managing application software systems that provide critical information services for university constituents.
The Academic Applications team within ES is looking for a self-driven Team Lead. Reporting to the Director of Academic Applications, this position will be the technical expert and guide the team supporting Academic Application's operations and projects.
The Academic Applications Team Lead will be heavily involved in the evaluation and recommendation processes for evolving Business Intelligence tools for the institution. Some of the other responsibilities will include:
- Guide and supervise staff supporting the Business Intelligence services for Student data
- Monitor and recommend best practices for code management and development environment management for Business Intelligence services for Student data
- Establish and enforce development and support standards in coordination with the Director of Academic Applications and other Enterprise Systems teams
- Working with the Director of Academic Applications, collaborate with university organizations and other stakeholders to define requirements for BI services and to deliver solutions that meet the needs of the customer
- Evaluate new service requests, data analysis, and plan for implementation

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information systems, or related field and equivalent experience
- SQL expertise for development and troubleshooting processes
- Successful experience working with, and leading, a diverse team
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
- Demonstrated experience in working with data warehouses, ETL processes, or star schema databases
- Significant experience with business intelligence and reporting technologies
- Working knowledge of best practices for resource management, business analysis, and technical assessment

Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information systems, or related field
- Experience with Banner and or other ERP systems
- Experience with Reporting Tools, such as MicroStrategy
- Experience with Talented ETL system
