Job Purpose
Provide leadership and program support to facilitate professional development and experiential learning of students in the College of Business. The Associate Director for Professional Development is an integral part of the College of Business's initiatives providing students with substantive professional development/engagement experiences that allow students to progressively and systematically build career-ready skills.
The Associate Director is responsible for development and execution of events and activities of the College of Business Student to Career program, including but not limited to professional skills training(s), organizing speakers' series, student peer mentor training and coordination, professional/leadership development programs, career fair experiences, and web-based and onsite resources. The outcomes of this position contribute significantly to the Tech Tomorrow Strategic Plan and the College of Business Strategic Plan, in the areas of student engagement, experiential learning and education for life.

Essential Functions
Determine strategic directions, prioritize resource needs, prepare and manage budgets. Engage with, mentor, serve, and develop students. Collaborate on projects and supervise personnel associated with experiential education programs, informational website(s), training materials, peer training teams, career fair experiences, clothes closet, LinkedIn/social media, etc. in cooperation with faculty, administrators, development staff, and external constituents. Plan and execute events in Student to Career and leadership development classes and programming for students: select speakers/presenters, reserve rooms, advertise, recruit participants, manage registration and program acceptance processes, develop and distribute materials, conduct follow-up evaluations, etc. Build relationships with students and stakeholders to broaden students' exposure to a variety of professions and career opportunities. Coordinate services with campus entities, including COB and university faculty and staff, Center for Career Development, Small Business Development Center, iCube, Governor's Schools, Office of Communications & Marketing, Dining Services, Development/University Advancement and Alumni Engagement, as well as off-campus venues and services. Train and supervise peer mentor teams to conduct one-on-one and small group student meetings for resume assistance, interview coaching, dress, social media usage, etc. Supervise part-time assistant, graduate assistant, student workers and student interns (3-4 per semester). Provide data to College of Business Assistant Dean in charge of accreditation efforts. Provide statistical reports related to program participation and success.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Five years of professional experience, including program/project management, event planning and team building experience. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience in public speaking, budget management, and data collection. Ability to work weekends and/or evenings as necessary. Proficiency in computer software applications such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel or other related software packages.

Preferred Qualifications
MBA or master's degree in a related College of Business discipline from an accredited institution. Experience in college student services. Familiarity with Tennessee Tech University and its organization, mission, commitments, practices and student information database. Appreciation and understanding of diverse cultures.

Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade AD44.
