Job Purpose
Provide formal training and technical assistance to early childhood teachers/providers to improve the quality of child care in the Upper Cumberland area.

Essential Functions
Administer and teach the Tennessee Early Childhood Training non-credit coursework (Orientation) using the statewide TECTA curriculum for Family and Group Home Providers. Collaborate with local early care and education programs, professional organizations, community agencies, businesses, industries, and families in our service area to ensure that the training and education needs of state-regulated childcare programs are fully met. Provide technical assistance, model teaching and/or consultation to early childhood teachers/providers. Maintain all program data and documentation (TECTA Database). Compile and submit accurate reports in a timely manner and in compliance with contract stipulations. Participate actively in early childhood professional organizations. Keep abreast of current literature and research related to child development, the childcare field and the childcare workforce. Provide leadership and support to early childhood teachers/providers, early childcare organizations, and partner agencies through committee memberships, conference presentations, technical assistance and related special projects at the local, state and national level. Attend professional development training through local, state and national organizations/agencies to stay abreast of early childhood trends and issues. Obtain, maintain reliability & accountability status and staying abreast of trends and changes as it relates to the Environmental Rating Scale. The Environment Rating Scales are intended to assess process quality in an early childhood or school age group. Promote cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals. Adapt to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood or related field. Three years of experience working in early care and education directly with children (birth through age 12). One year of experience teaching adults. Excellent interpersonal communications and organizational skills. Working knowledge of Tennessee Child Care Licensing Requirements. Knowledge of training techniques for adult learners. Proficient in software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access). Ability to manage time, priorities, and resources to achieve goals. Valid driver's license and auto insurance. Ability to travel to appointments, meetings, and training sessions which may require overnight stay.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood or related field.

Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed. Some nights and weekends will be required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade AD43. This is a full-time grant funded position; its continuation is contingent upon future funding.
