Job Purpose
Admissions Counselors travel to high schools and community colleges with the goal of recruiting, encouraging, and assisting prospective students with the admissions process while providing information about Tennessee Tech. Building a healthy rapport with prospective students and high school guidance counselors is a vital key for recruitment.

Essential Functions
Reports to the Director of Admissions and serves as a member of the Admissions Office team while managing a recruitment territory and working toward achieving the enrollment goals of the University. Travels extensively (both daytime and overnight) to visit high schools and community colleges across the state of TN in addition to events in border states as needed. Responsibilities include making presentations twice daily to groups of various sizes both on and off campus, giving tours for the Campus VIP program, organizing and/or participating in recruiting events. Counselors are a vital source of information for all prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, and departments across campus. Required to build and nurture relationships with prospective students via social media, email, phone calls, and in-person.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Strong interpersonal skills. A valid driver's license. Willingness and ability to travel as needed (both daytime, nighttime and weekends). Experience working with high school and/or college students. Enthusiastic, outgoing, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. High level of energy, be driven, and self-motivated in addition to being able to work responsibly without supervision both individually and within a team environment. Comprehensive understanding of software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, and know fundamental concepts of computer systems. Ability to establish immediate rapport and to communicate effectively with prospective students, parents, high school guidance counselors, and other staff on campus.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with customer service, public speaking, public relations, marketing, social media, writing, or guidance/education/counseling areas. Experience coordinating projects and/or events. Experience with utilizing a CRM and various social media outlets.

Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed. Evening and weekend hours are common.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade AD41.
