Job Purpose
Assists the Assistant Director of New Student & Family Programs in providing leadership and support for the implementation and evaluation of orientation programs, transition services, first-year experience initiatives for new freshman and transfer students enrolling at Tennessee Tech, and the University's parent & family programming.

Essential Functions
Assist with coordination and execution of new undergraduate student orientation programs for freshmen and transfers including coordinating fall, spring, and summer orientation programs and publications. This includes recruiting, training, and supervising 24 Student Orientation Assistants and 2 department student workers. Coordinate First-Year Experience (FYE) programming, Week of Welcome events, and University Convocation for new students. Create and manage event registration process for participating organizations and campus partners. Assist with creating and coordinating parent and family programs, outreach, and orientation. Coordinate, market, and implement all aspects of Family Weekend programs for Tech parents/families and students. Serve as liaison & ex-officio member for the TTU Parent Association (TTUPA). Manage membership database, information, and inquiries. Assist in designing and creating content for monthly communications, newsletters, and annual calendar. Provide administrative support and event planning for each program, including program announcements and communication with participants, arranging for all programmatic and housing facilities as well as other logistics pertaining to equipment, facilities, vendors, and catering. Manage programs' budgets, purchases, and process vendor contracts and requests. Perform special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Counseling, Leadership, or related field. Two years of job-related experience. Ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Tech students, staff, faculty, parents, and other constituency groups. Proficiency with basic computer programs and systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, internet and email management programs. Excellent written and verbal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in higher education or leadership. Three years of higher education experience. Demonstrate knowledge of student development model. Experience with student orientation programs and student success/retention programs. Public speaking and presentation experience in front of large audiences. Experience in training and supervising student employees.

Work Hours
Typical work hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday. May occasionally work nights and weekends depending on programs and events.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade AD42.
