Job Purpose
Responsible for all aspects of the TTU Spirit Program including Cheerleading program, Golden Girls Dance Team, and Awesome Eagle Mascot Program.

Essential Functions
Prepare, schedule and implement practices of all spirit squad and mascot members. Schedule and attend all practices to ensure safety. Provide training to compete at a national level. Work with athletics to schedule away game participation and travel arrangements. Prepare and manage fitness plans. Schedule appearances for Awesome and spirit squads at various local businesses, and for school pep rallies and other events. Maintain website for spirit squads. Produce publications that promote the program. Support and promote the mission of Campus Recreation and Tennessee Tech University, Division of Student Affairs and TTU Athletics. Monitor student-athletes academic success and providing support if necessary. Coordinate and plan all aspects of clinics and workshops. Assist in the supervision of summer cheer and dance campus each June and July. Adhere to all rules, regulations and policies governed by NCAA, OVC and Tennessee Technological University. Report to the Director of Campus Recreation.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Two years of university team coaching experience (may use GA in dance/cheer as one year of experience). Willingness to obtain or renew the following certifications within six months of hire date in safety and training as required by nationally recognized organizations: AACCA, NFSHS, and First Aid, CPR/AED. Valid Driver's License. Knowledge of tumbling and stunting, nutrition and fitness, NCA and UCA guidelines and applicable NCAA requirements. Knowledge of all girl and co-ed cheerleading skills. Knowledge of dance choreography. Ability to provide proper instruction in the fundamentals and techniques of cheer and dance and to prepare squads for national competitions and public appearances. Ability to coordinate, manage and implement stunt clinics and workshops. Ability to administer and monitor departmental budgets. Ability to coordinate successful fundraising efforts to support programs. Willingness to work weekends and travel with teams as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree from an accredited institution. Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Experience coaching for collegiate nationals competitions.

Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed. Some nights and weekends will be required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade AD42.
