Duties and Responsibilities:
Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) invites applications for the position of Assistant Registrar. Reporting directly to the Registrar and working closely with AUM's data analysts and the department of Information Technology, the Assistant Registrar is responsible for overseeing the reporting responsibilities of the Registrar's Office in compliance with record keeping regulations at the state and federal levels. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of Banner and registrar office processes. The primary duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Devises, extracts, and analyzes statistical information from Banner and develops reports regarding enrollment, admissions status, and retention as requested.

Distributes information about students, faculty and classes to administration and departments across campus.

Processes external requests for data as required by federal and state regulations including but not limited to the Open Records Act, and Solomon's Amendment.

Oversees the reporting of enrollment data to the National Student Clearinghouse and facilitates the resolution of related system and data discrepancies, as well as difficulties experienced by students, such as securing loan deferments and other related matters.

Serves as a Degree Works specialist, creating/updating degree plans; working on enhancements with the Degree Works application, and addressing questions and concerns of students, faculty staff.

Maintains NCAA Argos reports for Athletic compliance, and provides assistance with automated report and other reporting requests.

Audits class schedule offerings each semester for accuracy prior to pre-registration go-live dates.

Reviews Banner upgrade documentation related to student records functionality to identify potential areas of concern.

Serves on the Banner Student Oversight Committee and other ad hoc committees related to academic technology.

Works on special projects such as moving the University toward an outbound electronic transcript solution.

Works with extension software programs such as Xtender (Banner Document Management) and Argos (enterprise reporting tool).

Assists the Registrar's Office in providing supervision to departmental staff ensuring smooth operations and excellent customer service and assists with all graduation commencement ceremonies.

Interprets and enforces academic rules and regulations and maintains all student records in accordance with Federal, State, and AACRAO guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of current database systems and technologies
Knowledge of applicable university policies and procedures
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and relational databases
Strong working knowledge of FERPA
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Excellent research and analytical skills
Ability to interpret and enforce university, state, and federal regulations and procedures
Ability to respond to multiple competing demands

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of professional work with related experience is required. (Education can be substituted for experience.) Experience working with complex data systems is required. Experience working in a higher education setting using the Banner student module is preferred.
