Counseling - Assistant/Associate Professor

The person selected for the Counseling Assistant/Associate professor position will be responsible for teaching two 3-credit counseling program courses each fall and spring semester. Additionally, the individual will engage in rigorous scholarship and research, pursue external funding opportunities, advise graduate students, provide leadership and service in the program; and participate in community and professional service at the state, regional, and/or national levels.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Professional identity as a school counselor
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive diversity
Evidence of strong research skills and aligned scholarship (e.g., articles published in peer-reviewed journals).

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Earned doctorate from a CACREP -accredited program by August 31, 2019 (or have a non- CACREP doctorate in counselor education or closely related field and one year of experience as a counselor educator prior to 2013).

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

Preferred Qualifications
two years of experience as a professional school counselor or school-based counselor
Virginia license (or be license eligible) as a school counselor
Graduate level teaching experience in counseling or related field
success securing external funding for research and program development
participation in program governance and decision-making
professional leadership at the local, state, and/or national level
effective integration of technology in the instructional process
