Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Office of Annual Giving generates annual financial support for academic programs, student scholarships and special campus initiatives. Funds are raised via telephone, direct mail, the online giving site, a yearly Giving Day campaign, micro-campaigns and crowdfunding efforts. Annual Giving is responsible for US News and World Report alumni donor participation rate which is a campus priority.

As a member of the Office of Annual Giving, the Annual Giving Manager will report to the Director of Annual Giving. In this role, the Annual Giving Manager serves as an expert consultant and liaison for assigned schools, colleges, and units. The Office of Annual Giving ensures that University Relations and partnering schools, colleges, and units utilize the most efficient, creative, and effective annual giving strategies, and is a driving force to explore novel ideas that lead to the creation of new approaches and projects that engage donors and drive revenue.

This person will analyze data to identify growth opportunities and develop new, creative campaigns to improve results. Also, the Annual Giving Manager will assist with goal setting, annual planning, budget allocation and guide stewardship of donors.

The Annual Giving Manager will have a comprehensive understanding of UMD's overall objectives and translate them into actionable strategies for the Office of Annual Giving. Performance will be measured by the annual number of donors, dollars raised for UMD and campus units.

This position works in an environment dedicated to advancing the mission of University Relations and of the University of Maryland, and in building positive and meaningful relationships with colleagues and constituents.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor's degree or higher required;

Experience:
3-5 years of relevant work experience in fields such as nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, student fundraising, digital marketing, social media and digital media promotions, or similar required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Strong knowledge of fundraising or marketing practices.
•Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, project and time management skills required.
•Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple complex projects with limited direction.
•Experience leading projects from the concept stage through implementation.
•Very strong writing experience for web and print preferred.
•Ability to work as part of a team and also be a team leader.
•Ability to analyze problems, define objectives and implement solutions.

Preferences:

Master's degree preferred.
Thorough understanding of and insight into the new media landscape including social media tools and trends, social media monitoring, and analysis.

Physical Demands

Must have the ability to lift heavy boxes usually packed with materials and weighing at least twenty pounds.
