Working Title Food Service Supervisor 2- Float Schedule

Job Summary

Eastern Washington is currently seeking a Food Service Supervisor 2. This position supervises food service employees and food service operations for Dining Services at Eastern Washington University. Under the direction of the Manager/Director, the Food Service Supervisor 2 is responsible for providing culinary oversight to the operation's production team. Plans, organizes and directs the day-to-day activities which may include culinary work, customer service and maintenance functions in a retail or residential dining facility. Participates in the planning, development, preparation and management of menus, recipes, food production, and service lines. The Food Service Supervisor 2 coordinates personnel in procurement, production, product transport, menu compliance, documentation, food cost controls, safety, and sanitation of culinary operations. The Food Service Supervisor 2 will supervise and direct the activities of career, hourly and student staff including hiring, training, evaluating performance, initiating disciplinary actions and resolving complaints. The Food Service Supervisor 2 models excellent leadership skills and creates a welcoming environment for staff, students and all customers. The position requires software experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook as well as the ability to learn other software applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington Food Handler's Permit

  • Valid Driver's License

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Associate Degree or higher in food service management or Culinary degree/certificate

  • 2 years of food service supervisory experience
    or

  • Four years of food service supervisory experience in an institutional kitchen, Hotel/Banquet kitchen, or high volume restaurant

  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with major course work in restaurant or hotel management, or closely-related field.

  • 4 years as an executive chef in an institutional kitchen or banquet facility

  • 2 years of college/university food service supervision




Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Customer service experience
