Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Business Analysis, the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will be an integral member of the Department of Capital Assets and Financial Management ( CAFM ) team. The Analyst will serve the university community in the advancement of departmental objectives and university strategic initiatives, with a particular focus on the design, implementation, and support of new reporting capabilities within the administrative functions of the university. Primary job responsibilities include:
• Support the university goal of establishing a comprehensive data support infrastructure by being a knowledge leader in administrative data categories.
• Partner with university data stewards and other analytics professionals to understand, adapt, and prepare data for use.
• Collaborate with academic and administrative leaders to understand their information needs.
• Design and conduct complex qualitative and quantitative analyses to support decision making and university, college, and division level strategic planning.
• Develop customized presentations in narrative, visual, and/or oral form, for the appropriate stakeholder(s), including university senior leadership and the Board of Visitors.
• Assist business intelligence users including department staff, administrators, faculty, and appointed personnel.
• Serve on committees and project teams as assigned.
Additionally, the Analyst will provide support to the CAFM department by assisting with reviews of university related business and commercial activities, supporting ad-hoc financial or operational evaluations and studies, and contributing to the exploration of strategic opportunities for process improvement or efficiencies. In each of these roles, the Analyst may perform market research, extract and analyze relevant data, and/or provide recommendations to help improve the potential outcomes of each activity.

Required Qualifications:
• Master's degree in a related field or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with significant experience or training.
• Proficiency in business intelligence/analytics tools (e.g. SQL , SAS , R, Python, MicroStrategy).
• Demonstrated experience working with complex data in a relational database environment.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Advanced skills with current Microsoft Office software.
• Success in building and maintaining customer relationships at multiple levels.
• Demonstrated ability to work professionally and effectively as a productive team and/or a committee member.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities concurrently, adhere to project timelines, and exercise confidentiality when working with sensitive issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in higher education at a public research university.
• An understanding of higher education ERP systems and architecture.
• Advanced degree or professional certification in a data analytics or business intelligence related field.
• Intermediate or advanced knowledge in the field of statistics.
