Assistant Professor of Sociology


The Department of Sociology at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Sociology. This is a full-time, tenure-track position expected to begin in August 2019.

Areas of Specialization: Primary Specialization in Sociology of the Environment. Secondary interests include Community Sociology and/or Medical Sociology/Sociology of Health.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: Include teaching 6 courses per academic year, a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, as well as a commitment to engaging in scholarship commensurate with the school's mission and service/outreach to the University. Duties include advising and mentoring sociology majors.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree or ABD in Sociology. If ABD, the doctoral degree must be completed before August 15, 2019.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: In addition to specializations noted above, ability to teach a range of courses including, but not limited to: Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Aging and Society, Social Research Methods and/or Sociological Theory. Successful candidates must utilize an effective teaching style that supports a diverse student body.
