Assistant Professor of Politics

The Department of Politics, Economics, and International Studies at the University of Hartford invites applicants for a tenure-track position in Comparative Politics beginning August 2019. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses in Comparative Politics and International Studies.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, both introductory and advanced, in Politics and International Studies with a teaching load of 3 courses per semester.  Specialty within Comparative Politics is open but we are especially interested candidates with expertise in the Global South. The successful applicant will also contribute to the interdisciplinary program in International Studies. In addition, all members of the department share in the teaching of department and college service courses. There will be also be opportunities to teach in our innovative University Interdisciplinary Studies program.  Candidates should show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching.  Additionally, candidates will be expected to possess an active research agenda that will result in peer-reviewed publications.  Successful applicants will be expected to participate in departmental and school committees, advise students, and contribute to student recruitment and retention.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in political science or related field in hand preferred but ABD candidates will be considered. Candidates must demonstrate excellent teaching, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Prior teaching experience is highly desirable.  Ability to teach an undergraduate course in methods is a plus.  Candidates must also be able to show evidence of scholarly achievement and promise.
