Eastern Washington University College of Social Sciences invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies to begin September 2018. Responsibilities include working and teaching within the Communication Studies Department. Teaching responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following Primary Courses:

• Integrated Research Methods


• Intercultural Communication


• Organizational Communication


• Leadership


• Social Media


• Intro to Public Relations

In addition, experience or an ability to teach other classes in the Communication Studies curriculum (please see departmental website) is desired. The successful applicant with include, with their materials, a chart detailing their experience working with these classes.

Conditions of Employment

The required start date for this position is 09/14/2018. To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 09/14/2018.

The person hired for this position will receive a one-year non-renewable contract for academic year 2018-19.

Required Qualifications:

•Minimum of a Master's Degree in Communication Studies.
•Experience teaching college-level courses listed as the primary needs of the department.
•Demonstrated excellence in teaching Integrated Research Methods
•Demonstrated excellence in teaching the 200, 300 or 400 level courses across the Communication Studies curriculum
•Experience teaching online and hybrid courses using Canvas as the delivery platform.
•Demonstrated interest, experience and/or ability to promote cultural competence and/or diversity.
•A minimum of 2 years work experience in a Communication related field or teaching communication classes.
•Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who also offer one or more of the following:

•Experience teaching the other communication courses across the Communication Studies curriculum
•Experience adapting online and hybrid courses using Canvas as the delivery platform.
•Demonstrated applied or academic research agenda that dovetails the Primary classes listed above.
