Instructor, Textiles & Apparel

Position Description:

The University of Northern Iowa's School of Applied Human Sciences seeks applications to fill a renewable term textiles and apparel instructor position. Successful candidates will be expected to teach beginning and advanced computer aided design courses including but not limited to the following software packages: Optitex 2D/3D, Lectra Kaledo/Modaris 2D/Diamino and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator. Teaching assignment will also include all phases of the apparel product development and merchandising process including: apparel design, flat pattern and draping, pattern grading, merchandising, beginning and advanced apparel construction, introductory textile science/textile materials testing, and fashion promotion/runway show production.

Education Requirements:

Ph.D. in textiles and apparel required.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of five years of teaching experience that includes apparel construction, merchandising, computer aided design, fashion show production and textile material science and testing required.

Desirable Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with college teaching experience with ability to cross over to other courses such as Costume History and Fashion Trend Analysis.
