Graphic Designer

Position Summary:
Graphic Designer designs, develops, and assists in producing print, web and online publications and other visual media products that support the priorities of the Division of Operations and University Relations. This position designs high quality, consistent communications for diverse populations, and independently researches, identifies, and develops conceptual designs and frameworks, building a suite of visual communication and presentation materials that are compliant with the university's brand standards.

Required Qualifications:
- Significant experience with desktop design and publishing processes on Windows and MAC platforms and command of Adobe Create Suite software, including In Design, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Experience designing high quality publications, basic marketing fliers, informational signs, logos, infographics and promotions.
- Expert level working knowledge of graphic design for print, digital, and press publishing processes, concepts, and techniques, such as digital page makeup, style sheets, image scanning, color separation production, and pre-press preparation of files.
- Strong digital photo editing and manipulation skills
- Web design skills.
- Content management system experience.
- Experience with copy editing, copy writing, and proofreading.
- Experience with illustration using manual techniques and computer software.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with clients, photographers, illustrators, editors, pre-press vendors, printers, and others.
- Ability to work in a supportive role and take direction.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to produce creative, effective visual approaches within established budgets and time frames.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in art/graphic design and experience in graphic art production, or equivalent training and work experience.
- Experience working directly with printing companies.
- Demonstrated writing and proofreading skills.
- Experience with video shooting, editing, and production.
- Experience with Associated Press Style.
- Photography knowledge/skills.
