Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine seeks a full time tenure track investigator at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the areas of bacterial pathogenesis, host response to bacterial infection, and host -microbe interactions. We are particularly interested in investigators using multidisciplinary and innovative approaches to study human bacterial infections.
The Stritch School of Medicine is undergoing rapid growth in all of its departments and seeks to develop areas that bridge basic and clinical research. The Department of Microbiology and Immunology offers a stimulating research environment with 17 primary faculty members studying host-microbe interactions within the disciplines of bacteriology, immunology, and virology. We offer robust graduate programs, excellent core facilities, and a highly collegial and collaborative environment. Laboratory space will be in the newly completed Center for Translational Research and Education (www.luc.edu/ctre).
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree, relevant postdoctoral training, and a strong publication record. Physician-scientists are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be expected to establish and sustain a vigorous, externally funded research program, teach graduate and medical students, and engage in service to the university.
