ABOUT AIC

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. AIC offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through the Schools of Business, Arts and Sciences; Health Sciences; and Education. The mission of the College is to transform student lives through career focused learning, with a strong foundation in the liberal arts, a commitment to serving the community, and a high level of involvement in the global economy.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assume and achieve annual fundraising and individual giving goals. Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization. Secure gifts at the $1,500 to $5,000 level with the goal of raising a minimum of $250,000 annually. Oversee a portfolio of existing individual donors and identify new prospective donors to cultivate, solicit, and steward. Cultivate existing individual donors and encourage renewal and increased donor support. Collaborate with other staff on rating, solicitation and stewardship strategies. Track and report progress using specific metrics.
  • Communicate persuasively through personal visits, written proposals, appeal letters, and reports the important case for giving to the American International College. Responsible for a continuing program of donor acknowledgement, appreciation, and recognition. Manage all actions, notes, and donors records in Raiser's Edge for reporting and tracking purposes. Create and implement moves management plans.
  • Participate, as required, in Institutional Advancement team efforts including solicitation strategy teams for key prospects and internal planning efforts. Keep current on programs and faculty/research/student initiatives at the college; network with school/college staff, faculty and administration. Assist other IA and athletics development staff with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications).

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Preferred Degree(s): Masters Degree in business management, public administration or nonprofit management
  • Required Field of Expertise: Three or more years of individual major gift fundraising, preferably in higher education or nonprofit organizations
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Higher Education, Non-Profit management
  • Required Licensure(s): Valid Driver's License

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • In addition to general skills, the position requires the ability to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:(1)to initiate contacts with potential major donors; (2) to develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers; (3) to move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; (4) to make solicitations when appropriate; (5) to maintain stewardship contacts with donors.
  • Must possess proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and the demonstrated ability to quickly learn other software programs that the department utilizes such as Constant Contact and Raiser's Edge.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of major donors in order to develop relationships between them and the college
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, analytical and organization skills required
  • The ability to work with people from different backgrounds is essential
  • Interest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting AIC's fundraising priorities through developing excellent working relationships with faculty, senior academic leaders, alumni, other volunteers, and the IA office team
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full time, exempt level, benefit eligible position. Normal Office Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., flexible to the needs of the department. Night and or weekend event work required as necessary.
