Job Description Summary

The Department of Management within Auburn University's Harbert College of Business in Auburn, Alabama seeks to fill one full-time tenure-track Endowed Chair position in Entrepreneurship, contingent upon budget approval, to begin fall 2019.

The Department of Management currently consists of 14 tenure-track faculty in areas spanning strategic management, organizational behavior, human resource management, and entrepreneurship. The Harbert College of Business is AACSB accredited, has five academic departments, several Master's and Ph.D. programs, centers for research and executive education, and an enrollment of over 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The entrepreneurship program is in a growth stage and has received over two million dollars in gifts and endowments in the last year. The entrepreneurship program is supported by the Lowder Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship and the Tiger Cage Accelerator, which is a student co-working space. An Innovation Center will open in 2019 and a new Tiger Cage Business Incubator is planned for 2020.

The selected candidate will actively pursue the college's vision to grow the entrepreneurship program and expand the program's prestige within the university and the greater academic community. The candidate will interact with external stakeholders, promote the university's reputation for entrepreneurship, and support cross-campus entrepreneurial initiatives. The candidate may teach undergraduate or graduate entrepreneurship courses, depending on the candidate's interests and departmental needs.

The selected candidate will be expected to maintain a record of consistent publication in elite journals, demonstrate teaching proficiency, and provide support to the entrepreneurship program. In addition, participation in the Department of Management's doctoral program is expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. by the time employment begins in entrepreneurship, strategic management, or closely related field from an accredited institution with established credentials in the areas of entrepreneurship or innovation that would warrant appointment to an endowed chair position and full professor appointment at the time of appointment on August 16, 2019.

Applicants should have experience with start-ups or an understanding of entrepreneurial firms and a willingness to be involved in entrepreneurship and economic development activities. Applicants should have proven leadership abilities and excellent communication skills. Experience in grant writing is a plus.

The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. at the time the appointment begins and be able to continue working legally for the term of employment.
