ABOUT AIC

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. AIC offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through the Schools of Business, Arts and Sciences; Health Sciences; and Education. The mission of the College is to transform student lives through career focused learning, with a strong foundation in the liberal arts, a commitment to serving the community, and a high level of involvement in the global economy.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of services both internally and externally that serves to prepare students from institutions of secondary education located in the Pioneer Valley for successful transition to college/university study, vocational careers, public, military, or volunteer service preparation. Design programs and services designed will mitigate academic underachievement, barriers to college participation, and the academic achievement gap of underrepresented students. Expand current and seek additional revenue streams to develop and fund community serving initiatives.
  • Provide oversight and budget management of AIC Pioneer Valley K-12 Tutorial Program, Developmental Education, Student Support Services (ACE), and other initiatives and programs that support early college awareness, preparation, access, and success.
  • Seek grant funding (foundation, corporate, and federal), and develop external partnerships with mission-centric organizations. Ensure that the development and maintenance of all agreements and grants are in compliance with federal, state, and local authorities, systems, and agency requirements and policies.
  • Develop and implement a robust marketing and communications plan to provide exposure of the department's programs and activities to the public and to the college community.
  • Hire, provide supervision, training, and professional development activities for staff; develop and maintain department operations manuals and assessment plans.
  • Collaborate and maintain communications with Center for Academic Success staff, Admissions, Academic and Student Life Deans, and campus leaders in order carry out program activities and to contribute to committees and campus wide initiatives that promote access, retention and academic success.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Master's Degree
  • Required Field of Expertise: Master's Degree in Education, Psychology or related field; Ability to communicate fluently (written and verbal) in English and Spanish
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Higher Education or Special Education

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience working with students of diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record of managing people, projects and budgets
  • Experience in marketing and developing new programming
  • Knowledge of grant writing, projects and budgets
  • Ability to communicate fluently (written and verbal) in English and Spanish

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full time, exempt level, benefit eligible position. Normal Office Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., flexible to the needs of the department. Occasional night and or weekend event work required.
