Program Assistant



We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: PUB Program Assistant


Reporting to the Director of the Pence Union Building (PUB), the PUB Program Assistant fulfills a key role in EWU's student union building. This position exists to help provide a safe, secure, and well-managed student union; to educate students; and to enrich the PUB experience by ensuring excellent customer service.


The PUB Program Assistant partners with the Director in all PUB operational, administrative, and programmatic endeavors. Critical skills needed include ability to supervise and delegate work to student employees, excellent time and project management, experience working with graphic and web design, event planning, and ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.


The PUB Program Assistant maintains the day to day operations of the information desk including scheduling, policy interpretation, policy enforcement, and responding to requests from building users. The PUB Program Assistant maintains all PUB marketing, messaging, and programming--including, but not limited to, building postings, digital content, websites, social media, and building sponsored events and campaigns.



  • This position will work a nontraditional schedule. Anticipated work hours are 11am to 8pm. Some evening and weekend work will be required.


Given the nature of the PUB activities, the PUB Program Assistant works closely with Business and Auxiliary Services, Student Affairs, Information Technology, ASEWU, Scheduling, Security, Custodial, Maintenance, Admissions, and other key university partners.

Required Qualifications:

a. High school graduation or equivalent AND
b. Two years' experience with front desk operations, office management, and/or scheduling

  • Strong computer skills

  • Familiarity with graphic design (e.g. Adobe Suite) and web content management software (e.g. Wordpress)

  • Experience with marketing including creating posters, brochures, or other informational material

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to serve as a program liaison with multiple internal and external entities.

  • Superior customer service ability including the ability to perceive needs and appropriately respond to highly diverse constituencies in a fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, pay attention to detail, and produce desired results

  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to support several individuals at once.

  • Ability to stay focused and make progress on long term projects despite frequent interruptions by individuals and short-term program needs.

  • Experience using standard office equipment including computer, printer, fax, copiers, scanners, multi-line telephone systems and messaging systems.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in student union operations, student affairs, building management/operations, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience with graphic design, web development, and social media

  • Demonstrated experience with educational programming

  • Bilingual
