Systems Administrator

Position Summary:
The IT Systems Administrator will work as part of the Faculty and Staff Technology Resources team to provide day to day support and administration of services for managing computer devices. This position will be responsible for running the patch management (BigFix) and mobile device management services ( TBD ) offered to VT community. They will be heavily involved in the development, deployment, and on-going administration for a mobile device management or unified endpoint management service that may include features such as computer image management/creation, MacOS/Windows patching, software deployment, and full disk encryption management.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Administration of a Mobile Device Management ( MDM / UEM ) Service for the university
• Management of the existing university Patch Management Service, currently IBM BigFix
• Manage BitLocker and FileVault FDE
• Assist with Division of IT projects and application deployments
• Maintain computer images, MacOS/Windows patching and software deployments
• Provide technical assistance and support to FASTR clients.
Additional duties may include troubleshooting and maintaining MacOS, Windows10 and Windows Server 2012-2016 Systems, and troubleshooting and maintaining end user software applications. In addition, the IT Systems Administrator will serve as a general technical resource, assisting User Engagement with a variety of technical elements related to IT projects.

Required Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
• Strong knowledge of a broad range of Mac OS X and Windows based applications
• Proven experience administering a centralized client management and/or patch management system such as Jamf, SCCM , IBM BigFix, Airwatch
• Basic knowledge of Networking, TCP /IP, and some Linux/Unix systems
• Strong knowledge with a Mac OS and iOS management product such as MaaS360
• Working knowledge and proficient experience with Microsoft server products, systems management, and Active Directory including advanced administration and configuration
• Significant customer service experience
• Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical end users
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Valid Driver's License with no restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven experience with IBM BigFix
• Experience WDS / MDT OD deployment suites
• Knowledge of best implementation practice such as Full-Disk Encryption
• Experience with Log Analysis tools
• VOIP Phone Systems and Call Centers
• Experience with Apple Deployment Programs (Device Enrollment Program, Apple School Manager
• Familiarity with Apple Volume Purchase Program
• ServiceNow development, configuration, and administration experience
