Position Summary:
Transport faculty, staff, students, and visitors in a passenger van in accordance with all motor vehicle laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Support the University Police Department with its mission to provide a safe environment to all students, faculty/staff and visitors. Assist individuals with disabilities as needed. Responsible for fueling van. Multiple positions available.

Required Qualifications:
• Possession of a valid operator's license with a safe driving history
• Must pass a thorough criminal history and driving history check
• Candidate must successfully complete the department's driver training and testing
• Candidate must possess the ability to: follow instructions; use independent judgment and exercise considerable restraint under stressful situations; keep written records and logs; understand University Police Department rules and regulations
• Candidate must be able to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner along with operating in adverse weather conditions during the night hours
• Requires work during nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience operating a large passenger van
• Previous experience with two-way radio communications
• Familiarity with the Virginia Tech Campus.
