Assistant Professor of Education


Brief Summary:

The Marist College Education Department seeks candidates for TWO tenure-track positions of Assistant Professor of Education to begin in fall 2019. The education department offers a variety of teacher preparation programs including: (1) elementary education, grades 1-6, with dual certification for students with disabilities, (2) a birth through second grade teacher certification, and (3) 7th - 12th grade certification in seven content areas (English, math, social studies, biology, chemistry, Spanish or French) also with dual certification for students with disabilities. The department offers a 5-year program to both the elementary/students with disabilities candidates as well as the 7th -12th grade teacher candidates for the completion of a master's degree.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate instruction in P - 12 education methods. Supervision of student teaching may be assigned. The expected course load for our faculty is 3:4. Applicants should have an active research agenda that leads to high-quality peer reviewed publications and presentations.


Qualifications:

Doctorate in education or a related field from an accredited university required. Expertise in one or more of these areas: teaching methods in one of the key secondary content areas; special education methods for grades 7-12; and expertise in educational technology for the P-12 classroom. The successful candidate will have teacher certification, a minimum of three years of teaching in P-12 settings, and experience with collaborative partnerships in diverse educational settings. Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels is preferred. The candidate should have an ability to integrate technology into instruction, and a commitment to alternative methods of program delivery including but not limited to online learning. Familiarity with accreditation processes will be helpful.
