Specialist VI, Info Tech (Data Architect/Modeler)

Data Architects and Modelers analyze business data processes and definitions and design data models and structures that translate these complex business data definitions into efficient, compact models. Data Modelers work with DBAs, Business Analysts, Developers, and Functional Users to design data models that meet the organizational needs using conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Their models are designed to improve efficiency and outputs, and may focus on issues such as reducing data redundancies or improving data integration across systems. This role plays a key part in defining and implementing Data governance and standards within the University for Data warehousing and reporting purposes.

Duties may include but are not limited to:
1. Establishes collaboration with Institutional Research, DBAs, and subject matter experts to build a data governance framework and maintain an enterprise data dictionary and data warehouse.
2. Develops processes for data visualization using Qlik based on the needs of our constituents. Provides hands on training when necessary.
3. Works with Banner subject matter experts and DBAs to establish the process and schedule ETL functions within Oracle and exports to Qlik.
4. Collaborates with Business Analysts to understand the needs and fulfill the data reporting and visualization needs of customers including converting existing reports to visualizations.
5. Enforces data governance policy across Banner and all third party systems which share data with Banner by collaborating with the data owners across campus.

Minimum Qualifications
Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and seven (7) years of experience in data warehouse design, data modeling, extract, transform, and load (ETL) design and management, and visualization tools. Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience.

Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and organizational skills are required. After-hours and on-call support is also required. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related field, experience working as a data analyst with functional business units, extensive experience with data visualization, and a deep understanding of data governance.
