We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position:
Program Asst. Veteran's Resource Center (VRC) - Recruiter/Advisor


The Recruiter/Advisor is responsible for recruitment of new student veterans and providing general advising and support for a variety of issues confronting service members, student veterans and family members using VA Educational Benefits. This involves developing a recruitment plan and marketing materials in coordination with the Admissions office to identify opportunities for potential students, conducting site visits to various military installations and colleges, supporting various open house and fair events related to student veteran recruitment and information, interpreting admissions regulations, and tracking applicants through the process to ensure successful admissions.


This position serves as the primary point of contact and provides information on university and state policies for veteran and dependent state waivers, residency and in-state tuition policies for military families and veterans, and policies and procedures to potential and current students, staff, faculty and the public. The position is critical in tracking student progress with the VRC Benefits Supervisor and ensuring access and information for students as they move through the admissions process.


Sample activities include resolving problems, providing referrals to others, coordinating educational and recruiting events, establishing a liaison with department academic advisors, providing orientation activities for new students, advising student clubs and organizations, managing the VRC Lounge, and overseeing volunteer family and community members for various activities and projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent required.

  • Two (2) years of clerical experience.

  • Experience working with the military and veteran community.

  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.
