Volunteer State Community College
Position Summary: The incumbent's primary objective will be responsibility for the college's Ellucian Banner related web systems, including portals, middleware, and other associated systems. The administration includes duties, such as, installation, configuration, maintenance, security, performance, trouble shooting, third party system integration into the portal and Banner, single sign-on support, version upgrades, and contingency and capacity planning of the portal system.
Duties and Responsibilities: Manages and supports the technical needs of the Banner associated web systems. Works with Database Programmer and Systems Administrators to insure Banner integration. Desire to learn integration and single-sign on capabilities. Responsible for maintaining system and network performance data; system back-up; restore procedures including disaster prevention and recovery procedures. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Three years work experience in a field highly related to computer science or data processing. Three years of experience with developing and maintaining web sites.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related field. Experience with mobile-first web site design. Mobile application development experience. Experience with Ellucian Banner and Luminus portal. Red Hat Linux server experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Experience coding HTML/XHTML, XML, XSLT, CSS, PHP, Javascript, Jquery. Knowledge of a) server management with preference to a Red Hat Linux environment or using a Unix like operating system and b) developing of custom shell scripts, monitoring logs, and other server administrative duties. Experience with Luminis and Banner. Experience with the application, implementation of data communications hardware/software, network configuration/operations, system planning and analysis methods. Knowledge of on-line editors. Ability to work independently or on a project team with little supervision. Commitment to continuously support the mission, vision, and values of Volunteer State Community College, upholding the highest standards of customer service. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Pay Rate: 48,370.00 - 58,646.00 annual salary depending on experience
