Assoc. Director, Executive Ph.D. Program ? Business Research

Building on its motto of Ut Prosim (that I may serve), Virginia Tech is dedicated to InclusiveVT-serving in the spirit of community, diversity, and excellence. We seek candidates who adopt and practice the Principles of Community, which are fundamental to our on-going efforts to increase access and inclusion, and to create a community that nurtures learning and growth for all of its members. Virginia Tech actively seeks a broad spectrum of candidates to join our community in preparing leaders for the world.

Position Summary:
The primary responsibilities of this position involve the ongoing development and implementation of academic and administrative plans and processes for the Ph.D. in Business - Concentration in Executive Business Research ( BXBR ) Program at the Northern Virginia Center ( NVC ), Pamplin College of Business.
The program is formally rostered in the Northern Virginia Center with the Academic Director providing academic and administrative leadership. The Associate Director position supports the Academic Director in managing program delivery, managing the admissions cycle and implementing strategic decisions.
The BXBR program admits approximately ten students in each academic cohort, and eventually will host a total of approximately thirty students (in steady state). The instructional plan features significant ongoing alignment between BXBR (located at NVC ) and the six full-time departmental Ph.D. programs on Pamplin College of Business's Blacksburg campus ( ACIS , BIT , Finance, HTM , Management and Marketing). This requires significant planning and implementation of technology-enabled doctoral instruction in which the BXBR students participate synchronously with traditional Ph.D. students in doctoral seminars covering disciplinary and methodological content.
The BXBR curriculum also requires management of a significant complement of visiting speakers and multiple tutors who supplement the regular disciplinary and methodological courses delivered by the academic faculty from NVC and Blacksburg locations. In addition, serving the non-traditional part-time senior executive student base in BXBR requires thoughtful academic advising skills across a range of disciplinary doctoral programs. The proposed position will report to the Academic Director of the BXBR program.
