Manager, Research Compliance

This position is Open Until Filled

The Animal Program Manager is an administrative position within the Auburn University Animal Care and Use Program that reports to the Director, Research Compliance. Essential functions include, but are not limited to: advises AU investigators on compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures; manages semi-annual facility inspections and program evaluation; participates in protocol monitoring and assessments; develops, implements, and/or manages a training program to meet regulatory requirements and institutional needs; develops tools and resources to assist investigators with protocol approvals and compliance; contributes to development and implementation of institutional policies and procedures related to animal care and use; drafts and submits required regulatory reports including non-compliance to university administration, external sponsors, and/or federal oversight agencies; maintains positive working relationships with department heads, investigators, and others to facilitate institutional compliance; supervises compliance specialists and/or committee administrators.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business administration, law, ethics, nursing, medicine, vet medicine, animal sciences, biological sciences, social behavior, human sciences, or related field; five (5) years of experience in contracts, grants, law, nursing, medicine, vet medicine, animal sciences, human or animal research; knowledge of federal regulations, state laws, and institutional policies and procedures related to animal care and use; and at least one year of experience supervising, mentoring or leading others.

Desired Qualifications
Experience in an academic or research setting involving animal care and use; current certification as a Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA) by the professional organization Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R).
