Resource and Prevention Specialist - Health Services

The Resource and Prevention Specialist reports to the Director, Center for Awareness, Resources and Education (CARE) to further the university s commitment to respond and prevent sexual misconduct. S/he will also have an important dotted line relationship to the Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity to ensure the university meets its programmatic responsibilities in supporting the university s Title IX and Sexual Harassment policies.

Tufts Health &Wellness Service includes the departments of Health Education, Health Service and Counseling and Mental Health Service, and supports the educational mission of the University. Its overall mission is to maintain the physical, psychological and social health of students by providing high quality services through an interdisciplinary team approach of providing care, preventing illness and promoting health and wellness. Our overall scope includes medical services for students, mental health care, and health education including, but not limited to: alcohol education, sexual assault prevention, reproductive and sexual health information, stress management and mindfulness, nutrition and healthy living.

The Resource and Prevention Specialist s primary responsible is to respond to student needs regarding sexual misconduct. The Specialist will be a valued and highly collaborative role in the development, implementation and evaluation of CARE s prevention and response plan.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor s degree in related field.
  • 3- 5 years of full-time professional experience in the field of sexual assault, relationship violence, domestic violence, and stalking; primary prevention services; victim services and/or training and technical assistance services required. Unpaid or volunteer experience in these fields may be applied to this requirement but may not replace the professional experience entirely; candidates who wish to apply volunteer experience should demonstrate how their experience is equivalent to professional experience.
  • Strong grounding in empowerment based advocacy and a feminist framework for understanding gender-based violence.
  • Clear and calm judgment centered on survivors, discretion and competency for strategic and diplomatic collaboration.
  • Clear ability to multi-task and quickly switch from one project to another.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on behalf of survivors and collaboratively with co-workers and colleagues.
  • Experience working with college-aged or young adult population.
  • Knowledge of sexual misconduct prevention.
  • Strong awareness of social, emotional and personal boundaries and how to set and maintain them in clear and respectful ways.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Public Health, Education, Social Work, College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or a related field strongly preferred.
