Position Summary:
The Executive Director will be responsible for leading the Center for Business Intelligence and Analytics as it enters a new phase of growth and expansion, contributing more broadly and boldly to this critical university initiative. The Executive Director will be responsible for working with key university resources, including the Data and Decisions Destination Area and the University's new center for business engagement, LINK . The Executive Director will be responsible for engaging external stakeholders to help build Center capability and support ongoing programming growth and value creation. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs.

Data and Decisions is one of the University's five Destination Areas and Business Analytics is one of the three strategic pillars of the Pamplin College of Business. The Center for Business Intelligence and Analytics ( CBIA ) is a driving force within Virginia Tech for the creation of collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and corporate leaders to advance the best practices in business analytics education, experiential education, training, and leading-edge research. CBIA serves as an interdisciplinary resource to support faculty research both within the Pamplin College of Business and in cooperation with other centers and academic units within Virginia Tech. Through its Academic Director and faculty, CBIA leads curricular initiatives for students with interests in business intelligence and analytics and builds synergistic partnerships within the business community. The Center for Business Intelligence and Analytics is one of three centers serving the broader university housed in Pamplin College of Business. The others are the Apex Center for Entrepreneurs and a new Center for Real Estate. The Executive Director will have responsibility for programming in Blacksburg and the National Capital Region, either location can be established as the primary work station for this position.

Required Qualifications:
• Knowledge of analytics best practices, market trends, drivers, and key technologies
• Supervisory and team development experience
• Strong communications skills; excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Holds a Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with relevant work experience at an equivalent level
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with analytics; which could include use or deployment of data and advanced analytics solutions, analytics program, product or solution development, or analytics strategy
• Experience with strategic planning and visioning
• Experience achieving significant program outcomes in commercial, non-profit, volunteer or educational environments
• Broad network of contacts in data analytics in industry and/or government
• Exposure to developing and engaging advisory boards
• Leadership experience appropriate to a senior leadership role
• Demonstrated experience driving a culture of innovation by challenging the status quo and pushing boundaries; fosters a supportive environment for taking calculated risks
• Demonstrated ability to manage risk and deal with ambiguity effectively
• Ability to assess and identify resources-expertise, processes and tools-required to meet business needs
