Lecturer - Political Science

Eastern Washington University Department of Political Science and International Affairs invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Political Science and International Affairs to begin September 14, 2018.


Review of applications will begin in late July 2018. This is a full-time non-tenure track position. Contract is renewable annually dependent on performance, need, and funding.


Responsibilities include working and teaching within the Department of Political Science and International Affairs. Primary teaching responsibilities will be political theory and American politics and a variety of Political Science intro courses. Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching.

Conditions of Employment


The required start date for this position is 09/14/2018. To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 09/14/2018.


Position is based on the Cheney campus, and includes in-classroom teaching as part of its position responsibilities. As a result, this position will not be filled with a candidate who seeks an on-line only, remote teaching position.




Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Political Science, or related field.

  • Experience teaching college-level Political Science courses.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.




Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who also offer one or more of the following:



  • Experience teaching the Political Science Courses across the Political Science and International Affairs curriculum.

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching Political Science 100, 200, 300 or 400 level courses across the Political Science curriculum.

  • Ph.D. in Political Science, or related field
