Accounts Payable Analyst

Position Summary:
Provide support to Accounts Payable. Audits and investigates accounting payment documents including interpreting and applying policies and procedures. Enter payments to the Banner Finance accounting system using on-line data entry forms. Ensures that data is keyed in an accurate and timely manner.
Communicate with academic and administrative departments to explain policies and procedures related to accounting payment documents and to resolve issues. Backup duties to include reception desk coverage.

Required Qualifications:
- Previous fiscal clerical experience in a high volume academic or business environment;
- Strong customer service experience in a professional office sitting;
- Strong data entry experience;
- Proficient utilizing various computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail and databases;
- Ability to read, understand and apply complex state and university policies and procedures;
- Ability to perform basic business math calculations;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the University Banner Finance system or similar relational database software;
- Knowledge of HokieMart;
- Experience working with automated workflow and imaging systems;
- Experience working with accounts payable transactions;
- Knowledge of state and university accounting policies and procedures.
