Research Technician

Position Summary:
The Langwig Lab at Virginia Tech is seeking a part-time research technician to assist in laboratory set-up and maintenance. Duties include supervising undergraduate students, entering field and laboratory data, database maintenance and curation, and report generation. The research technician will also assist in ordering equipment and supplies, and maintaining laboratory compliance with health and safety protocols. Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques is essential.
The Langwig Lab conducts research in disease ecology, epidemiology and population biology, and uses quantitative approaches paired with empirical data collection to understand the impacts of infectious disease of wildlife communities, and the role of host and treatment variation in influencing disease outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
-Previous laboratory experience.
-Experience with curating databases and entering & proofing large datasets.

Preferred Qualifications:
-BS in Biology or related field.
-Familiarity with Virginia Tech purchasing guidelines.
-Familiarity with university laboratory health and safety standards.
-Experience working with undergraduate students.
