Job Description Summary

POSITION AND AVAILABILITY : Twelve-month, tenure track faculty position at the Associate Level to Coordinate the
Culinary Science study option in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Hospitality Management beginning spring or fall, 2019.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES : The Culinary Science Coordinator will be responsible for coordination and administration of the new
Culinary Science option at Auburn University. Primary administrative responsibilities include marketing and promotion of the
program, student advising, development and fundraising, and clinical faculty supervision. Teaching responsibilities will include
culinary arts classes specific to the Culinary Science option and food production classes offered across all three study options for the
BS in Hospitality Management. Bachelor's degree options currently offered include Hotel and Restaurant Management and Event
Management. The successful candidate is expected to engage in research and other scholarship and service consistent with the
expectations of a tenure track faculty appointment.
THE DEPARTMENT : The Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Hospitality Management is housed within the College of
Human Sciences at Auburn University. The department includes 16 full-time tenured and tenure track faculty and offers bachelors,
masters, and doctoral degree options. Opportunities for collaborative research exist with both Nutrition and Hospitality Management
faculty and within the College of Human Sciences Center for Health Ecology Research ( CHER ). Additional information on the

THE COLLEGE : The College of Human Sciences is one of twelve (12) academic schools and colleges on the Auburn
University campus. It enrolls more than 1,100 undergraduate students and approximately 100 graduate students across three
departments (Consumer and Design Sciences, Human Development and Family Studies, and Nutrition, Dietetics, and Hospitality

Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS : The candidate must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in culinary, hospitality
management, food service management, or a closely related field. Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of industry
experience in culinary or restaurant operations, be ServSafe certified. The candidate should be familiar with accreditation procedures and national standards for the discipline. The candidate is expected to collaborate with Hospitality Management faculty on research, as well as to provide service and/or industry connections to the school, college, and university. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Desired Qualifications

Desired qualifications include certification by the American Culinary Federation ( ACF ), experience with culinary program development, assessment, and delivery of assessment, and experience in the management of educational or commercial culinary or hospitality operations.
