Associate Director, Economy, Community and Food, VCE

Position Summary:
Virginia Cooperative Extension seeks an accomplished visionary leader for Economy, Community and Food Extension programs with the ability to engage faculty and stakeholders in pursuit of excellence. This position reports to the Director of Extension and is responsible for leading the Economy, Community and Food Extension education programs supported by agents and specialists in three Virginia Tech colleges ( CALS , CNRE , and CVM ) and in cooperation with Virginia State University. VCE has geographic presence on the main campuses of Virginia Tech and Virginia State University, at the Agricultural Research and Extension Centers, and in the 107 Extension offices throughout the Commonwealth.
The successful candidate will work with the state program leaders and the VCE field and campus-based faculty to discern and identify critical issues and create research-based educational programs to address Virginia's pressing needs. This position will play a key role in establishing partnerships, engaging stakeholders, supporting development of knowledge-based resources, and VCE communication to the Commonwealth about Economy, Community and Food impacts.

Required Qualifications:
-Ph.D in an Agriculture or Natural Resources discipline or earned terminal degree in closely related discipline.
-Scholarly achievements in their field, along with a history of strong, close working relations with Extension Agents in the design, support, and delivery of educational programs.
-Past leadership experiences in Extension must be demonstrated.
-Chosen candidate should have history of developing strong relationships with legislators, government officials, industry, and partner groups.
-An outstanding record of local, state and federal government partnerships and a proven ability to generate and leverage funding is also expected.
-Successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate with constituent groups and partners and be able to articulate a positive, innovative vision for Extension programs.
-Evidence of a strong commitment to teamwork and diversity are required.
