Computational Scientist

Position Summary:
Provide technical support: debugging, supporting application parallelization, performance tuning, and effective use of high-performance computing resources. Install, maintain, and support for commercial and public domain software. Develop HPC workshops and lecture series for VT faculty and students. Support faculty and students to effectively implement high-performance computing technologies such as performance tools, data analysis tools, and GPU accelerator. Collaborate with VT faculty and remote scientists at other institutions and create opportunities for external grant.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Masters degree or a Bachelor's degree and experience in a science or engineering discipline. Other requirements include:
-Ability to understand the computational requirements of scientists and engineers in the use of high performance computing solutions.
-Experience in deployment and technical troubleshooting on HPC resources.
-Experience in technical user support and parallel code development using MPI and OpenMP in HPC environment.
-Experience or familiarity with new technologies such as accelerators and next-generation languages.
-Experience in developing and providing HPC training and workshop to staff, students, and faculty in academic setting.
-Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and leading research projects of HPC through collaboration with external groups in various science domains.
-Excellent interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills.
-Self-motivated, and proven capability to work effectively in team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with CUDA programming.
-Experience developing open source, scientific applications.
-PhD.
