Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil, Environmental & Biomedical Engineering at the University of Hartford invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering to start beginning Spring 2019. Candidates must hold an earned bachelor and doctorate in Civil Engineering with emphasis on structural engineering. ABDs will be considered provided the candidate can document a firm degree completion date. The search is open to candidates with expertise in all areas of structural engineering, including sustainable structures and materials.

The position requires a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in structural analysis and design as well as courses in fundamental mechanics to engineering and architecture students, (2) disseminate the results of their research, (3) contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and service, and (4) be committed to working with diverse student and community populations. There will be opportunities to teach in our innovative, interdisciplinary University Interdisciplinary Studies. Candidates should show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching. Effective written and oral communication in English is required. Professional registration is strongly encouraged.

The College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture offers ABET-accredited programs in Civil, Biomedical, Mechanical, Acoustical Engineering Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering. In addition, it offers programs in audio engineering technology, architectural engineering technology, computer engineering technology, chemical engineering technology and Master of Architecture.
